Haydée and Juan Carlos Rodríguez found a sloth on a road near Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Chuwie the sloth was injured and lost a part of his left arm after being electrocuted by high-voltage wiring near San Antonio de Los Altos, Venezuela.

They built their first rescue and rehabilitation center for sloths in Venezuela and now the first animal is their foundation’s ambassador, They have rescued nearly 60 sloths so far.

Traffic accidents, dog attacks, deforestation, and electrocution pose the greatest threat to the slowest mammal on Earth, as sloths in Venezuela move closer to cities.
